Keep It Moving

Time to hit refresh... and keep it moving.

I have been meaning to send out a newsletter for almost a year now. Ack, where did the time go?!

I have started to recognize a pattern lately when it comes to building my own business. The pattern looks something like this: an exciting crossroads brings about new motivation to improve my business (think redesign my website, start a YouTube channel, initiate my newsletter), and as I get started, I am alwayscoincidentally met with an increased flurry of new client work. My business growth effort gets put on the back burner while I service new clients… and thus, my newsletter is delayed until the next wave of motivation hits and time allows.

I have come to recognize that balance and timing will never be perfect when growing a creative business. I need to accept that I will always be juggling client work, business growth, and personal development. They will always overlap and all are vying for my attention.

Last week I had a breakthrough. I have been meaning to get new headshots and studio photography for a while, but it was something for my brand that kept getting pushed aside. I finally forced myself not to overthink it and  act! I cleaned my studio, booked @frameoflifeproject and a week later had amazing shots to choose from. I realize now I have to remind myself to just keep it moving! Building a design business takes time and is a slow burn. It is important to not stall out by getting caught in the details—do your best and move on. Over time, these small (sometimes imperfect) steps will lead somewhere new, and when I look back, I will not fully remember how I even got there.

I am excited to send out my next newsletter announcing an upcoming product launch as well as links for new desktop and phone wallpaper backgrounds for the Fall/Winter season. In the meantime, here are a few behind-the-scenes shots from our photoshoot.
